Ensign Education Company was created to harness the power of Internet technology to assist LDS parents worldwide to guide their children to:• Recognize and desire to fulfill their God-given missions in life, in their marriages, and in their families.• Prepare academically for admission to the college or technical program of their choice. • Understand their heritage of liberty and responsibility as Americans. • Acquire the ability to be self-directed, life-long learners. • Learn social skills to effectively work with other people. We strive to accomplish this mission by:• Acknowledging the hand of God in our lives, in the founding of this nation, and in the creation of the world.• Fostering scholarly effort, courteous behavior, and responsible citizenship. • Teaching students to think, speak, and write clearly and concisely. • Providing a safe, orderly, encouraging school atmosphere. • Supporting parents in their central role as teachers of their children. Education is fundamentally a moral activity. It is the imparting of values. You teach what you are. It is our view that parents have the responsibility for educating their youth, including teaching their values and faith. We exist in response to the free market need of parents who are willing to pay for this environment. We exist as an expression of liberty, agency, and responsibility. We exist to shape character before test scores. A child’s open mind offers that which is as sacred as their virtue. We tread there with great reverence. Our guiding principles are:• The purpose of education is preparation for service.• Character is more important than academic skill. • God gave parents the responsibility to educate their children.
