 Karen Marie Whiting is a blue ribbon winner for canned and baked foods lives in southern Idaho. Growing up on a farm meant learning a variety of skills to help make the family and farm self-sufficient. A BYU graduate, Sister Whiting realized early that teaching was most enjoyable centered on application and not just accumulation of knowledge. She helps students to link faith and learning so that applying gospel doctrine and academic fundamentals becomes a natural part of everyday life. She has been married to her husband, Bud, for forty-one years. They have nine children (all except eight are girls!), nine children-in-law, and 29 grandchildren. Karen Marie teaches enrichment cooking and nutrition.
