Basic Computer Skills

Course Description: This one-semester course provides an introduction to computing that takes the student from basic familiarization with a computer to word processing and simple spreadsheet management. Students will receive hands on experience in working with graphics, tables, templates, and designing a simple checkbook register. Completion of this course fulfills the Computer Competency requirement for graduation from American Heritage Academy.

Residential Home Design & Estimating

Course Description: For the first 14 weeks of this course students will use a basic software program to produce a complete set of construction drawings from scratch, including floor plans, basement and foundation plans, roof plan, wall sections, electrical plan and elevations. The second semester of the course will teach students the skills for quantity take offs and pricing of materials and labor in order to estimate the cost of construction.

Computer Scrapbooking & Family History
Prerequisites: basic computer skills (Bus/Tech90 or equivalent) Required Texts: None Lab Fee: $25 Credits: .5 Sessions per Week: 1 Tuition: $30
Course Description: In this one-semester course students will learn to use PrintMaster software to manipulate digital photographs, use a scanner to digitize printed photos, and to create, save and print photo album pages, slideshows, etc. in print format or on CDs. The latter portion of the course will teach how to combine scrapbooking and computer skills in the creation of family histories and genealogies.
