Ensign Education's teachers of foreign language courses are either native speakers or returned missionaries with an understanding of and love for the culture and languages they teach. They are also inspirational role models of successful mastery of what is often a difficult challenge. Curriculum materials vary from language to language, but oral repetition and listening skills are used in daily sessions to give repeated exposure to vocabulary, usage and intonation. The goal of level one courses is to gain a mastery of the grammatical structure of the language and a vocabulary that enables basic conversational ability. Level two courses work on greater fluency and expanded vocabulary. Classes meet four times each week for half an hour. One of the great benefits of foreign language study is the increased understanding of English that results from it. Foreign language ability will also increase opportunities for service and employment, and tend to broaden a student’s view and understanding of the world and its peoples.
